BREWER James Kenneth Brewer, 77, of Durham, died Thursday morning at Durham Regional Hospital. Mr. Brewer was born in Franklin County, son of the late James Kenneth and Pearl Stallings Brewer, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 79th Armored Division.

He graduated from the Ohio Mechanical Institute, Univ. of Cincinnati and worked at the Wilson Daily Times for 22 years. He was a member of the Wilson Lions Club for 23 years and was the co-founder of the Wilson Rescue Squad. He then worked at UNC Chapel Hill in the mechanical retiring in 1985. Mr.

Brewer was a member of Temple Baptist Church and the Haswell Bible Class. He lived at Hillhaven Rehab. Conv. Center for the past two years. Surviving are his wife, Frances Dunnagan Brewer; daughters, Judi Brewer Lee and Sarah Jane Brewer, both of Rocky Mount; stepdaughter, LeaAnn Dunnagan Hoppe of San Juan Capistrano, CA; and 5 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Steven Teague officiating. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m.
